GolfWizard started with a problem I knew too well.
For a long time, I was the person behind the golf group—the one sending the texts, building the pairings, checking handicaps, collecting money, answering questions, and trying to keep everything fair before the first tee time. I loved bringing people together, but I also knew how much work was hiding behind what looked like a simple Friday game.
Most players remembered the laughs, the birdies, the side bets, and the stories told afterward. I remembered the texts, the pairings, the handicap questions, and the payout calculations. It didn't take long to realize the organizer needed a better tool. There had to be a better way than juggling messages, spreadsheets, scorecards, handicaps, and payouts by hand.
That was the beginning of GolfWizard.
I did not set out to build just another golf app. I set out to build the tool I wished I had when I was organizing games the old way. I wanted something that understood the real job of the organizer—not just scoring a round, but making the whole experience easier, fairer, and more enjoyable for everyone involved.
Why GolfWizard Exists
There are plenty of golf apps, scorecards, handicap tools, and tournament systems already out there. But organizing a great golf group is its own job. It requires communication, fairness, trust, continuity, and a smooth experience that keeps players coming back.
Built from the Organizer’s Side of the Table
Because I had lived that role, I knew GolfWizard had to be more than tournament software. Whether someone is organizing a weekly game, a season-long league, an annual golf trip, or a charity event, the goal is the same: make the round easier to run so the group can focus on the golf, the competition, and the friendships that form around the game.
That meant building tools that handled the things organizers deal with every week: invitations, pairings, live scoring, GHIN® handicaps, payouts, and the constant need to keep every round organized in one place.
What I Believe About Golf Groups
I believe great golf groups create something bigger than golf. They create traditions, friendships, stories, rivalries, and a reason for people to look forward to next week.
Those groups exist because someone takes responsibility for bringing people together, keeping the game fair, and making sure the experience works for everyone.
Why I Created The Playbook
As GolfWizard developed, I realized software could solve only part of the problem. Organizers also need ideas, judgment, and confidence for the human side of running a group: welcoming new members, handling handicap disputes, keeping traditions alive, resolving friction, and building a culture that lasts.
That is why I created The Golf Organizer’s Playbook, a free resource dedicated to the people who run golf groups. It brings together practical guidance on formats, handicaps, communication, leadership, traditions, and the small decisions that turn a regular game into a lasting community.
The Playbook exists to help organizers grow into the role, not just automate the tasks around it.
The Mission
The mission is simple: help organizers spend less time managing the game and more time enjoying it.

What I Learned Along the Way
The more games I organized, the more I saw that the best golf groups are built on consistency.
